LIve from Houston Texas
Hey Guys
Ya so, I'm down in Houston now, as I'm sure you guessed. I'm also typing on my new computer! Yay! No more dying Dave. As much as I 'loved?' my Dell, I'm so glad to have something that is not a piece of shit waiting to fall apart. So ya.
Anyway, not really doing much down here but driving around. And for anyone whose been to Houston, you know that driving around is the most accurate statement I am making. We really are. It takes forever to get from one side of the city to the other. Anyway, so that's been fun.
Yesterday I did an interview at Rice University and saw the campus and stuff. It was awesome. I'm really excited about it. If I decide I can live in Houston, I'll probably go there... I don't know I have to see I guess. My Dad is big on Rice, so I have to figure out if I'm big on it cus he wants me to be or not. I donno.
I also got this Trust thingy signed over into my name. Turns out my parent's are signing over my college fund to me. Since I'm turning 18, I get it this year. It's very scary. I know have like, more money than I ever dreamed of having now. It's awesome. And very weird. Anyway, I'm not gonna touch it for a long time, my parents promised to pay for my tuition. And I discovered that the average starting salary for a Chemical Engineer is around 50,000. So I'll be able to do student loans and pay them off fast. ya.
So that's what's new and exciting here.
Ya not that much really. My dad leaves today, I'm interested to see how my brother's gonna take it. He's coming to school and is convinced that like, once he leaves the house he won't have to come back. He keeps asking why I never go places. Like on the Tanzania trip. Cus I miss my family and I wanna go home. Well he's determinded to skip that step. Which is funny, cus he's even more dependent on my parents than I am, and I really don't know how he would travel by himself. Or figure out how to, like, buy the tickets? ya. It'll be interesting. He's convinced I have no social life, and no friends. Which hey, when I get back to school, maybe true! hehe, Whatever, I think he'll be surprised to find, more people know and like me than he thinks.
Oh Lynsey, you know all the NHS candy I got someone to ship over? They bought it all, (won't let me, but whatever) but she's shipping over massive amounts and half of it is going to her kid to sell in the dorms. The kid got this idea from Julien Stevens who (heroically, depending on who you talk to) sold stuff in the dorms to the Saudi's and made a lotta money. For heavens sake he had to have been selling more than cokes. I'm convinced he slipped some alcohol in there. But now this kid is selling the exact same think as NHS in the dorms. My parent's are really pissed off. I am too, so I'm thinking about asking Mr. Kelley to ban him from selling it. It is illegal anyway i think. but anyway, we'll see...
anyway, my ipod now has only 177 minutes left to load all my files on it's disk drive. but I have to shower and stuff anyway. Any of you ever come to Houston, the downtown Hilton is an awesome hotel.
Miss you guys!
love
Katie
