Here's a theory:
McAvoy was obsessed with time and whether time was linear or circular. I'm sure most of you remember. Well I looked at the problem and I think I have my own solution to solve it. Because time can be linear such as a song starts and ends, and because it can be circular such as the circle of nature with life, death, crops, etc...Well I figured because it can be both than there is somewhat of an issue. Well, we've restricted our self to ideas which if drawn are only 2-Dimensional right, so why not try 3-Dimensional and so on. Somewhat like the threads the fates used. They were flexible and were connected to eachother on many dimensions. Simply put, picture a cube and all the lines that connect each corner to all the other corners. You have 7 different directions you can go, and sometimes they overlap others on a linear level or you can come back across the same line, going in a circle. That's only on the simplest level. It just gets more difficult to picture when you go onto more sides and shapes. That's only if you believe in some kind of fate though and time being choices...I guess.
