Let Me Just Say...
Whitman rocks like no other. I went to this international people camp even though I'm only "international" and met all these cool international people... including various upperclassmen and stuff. And I was invited to join the snowboard team... ha ha ha. The campus is the most beautiful college campus I have ever seen in my life. We've got tons of green well kept grass and trees and ponds with ducks and stuff. Like... it's even better than Berkeley's campus. Everyone here is pretty darn liberal even though the local population is pretty conservative. We played all these awesome games and stuff. And so far I haven't met any jerks or anyone that is at all close to being a jerk.
And yes, to answer your question... I have met a lot of uber-geeks... girls too! Here, when I start talking dorkily about chaos theory, instead of looking at me funny and saying "I don't get you!" They're like, "oh my god... that stuff is so awesome, have you read James Gliek's book!?!" yeah.. apparently this is the place where "dorks go to be cool." The only problem is that no one understands the concept of homelessness the way I see it. Everyone asks, "where are you from". I just put on my name tag "from Earth". yeah. I know I'm a dork... but so is just about everyone else here. except in a cool way! I even met a guy that likes linux, snowboarding, and Napolean Dynamite! It's such a rare combination!
The dorm rooms are awesome, I'm in the biggest dorm with 170 people. I live with the Big Man Upstairs (Jesus) on the top floor (coed). ok... so shoutouts. Katie - tell Norah that it turns out her friend Cole lives down the hall from me. Lynsey - soon you'll be participating in corporate takeovers! Chris - People from Seattle who like to snowboard are Awesome!... There are a lot of them here. And just remember, you're getting a full year of free education! And a six pack at the same time! I wish I had a six pack. or like... something other than bones and skin. Justin - you must look for my friend Hannah; she will rock your socks. Everyone else - I would have done individual shout outs... but I have to go to a math geek meeting.
p.s. The Whitman men's acapella is *way* better than the Yale Alley Cats... they did Stacy's Mom and it was incredible.
p.p.s. If you don't believe everything I say about Whitman:
